This very beautiful old farmhouse of mellow stone dates back to 1800c and has been carefully restored during the last two years. It sits on a sunny hillside in a very unspoilt area just 4 miles from the lovely medieval hilltop village Montecatini Val di Cecina and enjoys superb 360° views around to the surrounding countryside. The famous Etruscan town Volterra is approx. 11 miles away.

There is a beautiful swimming pool (16m x 8m) in the garden just a short stroll down from the farmhouse which has poolside furniture and from where there are fine views. The owners have created an area inside the farmhouse in which to relax called "IL THERMARIUM". It consists of a Jacuzzi bath suitable for two people and a Turkish bath suitable for four people at 15 Euros per person for an hour and a half. There is also a fitness room equipped with techno gym and exercise bike which is free to use.

Poggio del Melograno has been carefully divided into six properties maintaining the original features combined with modern comfort. There are terracotta floors and beamed ceilings throughout. All the properties are tastefully furnished in traditional Tuscan rustic style. All have central heating and safe deposit box.

Each property has its own garden area for eating out of doors. Barbecue in the garden for shared use.

Notes: A day out to San Gimignano, Pisa, Siena and Florence is easily done from here. For those who love the sea, Cecina with its sandy beaches is within easy driving distance (19 miles). The isle of Elba is definitely worth a day out, you can easily reach it by ferry from Piombino. Montecatini Val di Cecina has a good selection of shops for your daily needs and there is a supermarket in Volterra.

Mountain bikes are available on request and horse riding can be arranged nearby. There is a good golf course at Punta Ala. Wine tours can be arranged. You can even book a day out on a sailing boat. The owner is very helpful and will be pleased to book your activities for you.

The accommodation is on the first and second floor. Entrance into spacious sitting/dining room with double sofa bed, satellite TV and DVD. Very large bathroom with bath, shower, basin, bidet and wc.

From the sitting room stairs lead up to the second floor into the second bedroom which can be used as a double or a twin room. From this bedroom a door leads out onto a lovely small roof terrace, there is also a gazebo in the garden for eating out of doors. Good views from all the windows.

IL GIRASOLE

The accommodation is all on the first floor. Access via an internal staircase up to a beautiful sitting/dining room with double sofa bed, satellite TV and DVD. From the sitting room there is a door to the large terrace which has outstanding views, ideal for eating out of doors and sunbathing. Open kitchenette with fridge/freezer, hob, microwave with grill, dishwasher and coffee maker. One double bedroom. Bathroom with shower, basin, bidet and wc. Own garden area.

BIANCOSPINO

These prices are inclusive of linen, towels, welcome pack and final clean. Heating, if used, is by meter reading. Telephone and internet, if used, by meter reading. Security deposit 150 Euros taken on arrival. Turkish bath/Jacuzzi 15 Euros per person for an hour and a half. Fitness room is free to use. Air conditioning in Gelsomino 10 Euros per day. Mountain bikes available to hire 5 Euros per day. Maid service on request 35 Euros (minimum charge).

 

Additional Information At all properties towels are included with the linen. Please ask for the prices for Christmas if not stated. The Security deposit may be paid in the Sterling equivalent. Changeovers - bookings are from Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise stated (in low season changeover days can be more flexible - please ask). Arrivals are between 4pm and 7pm. Departure is by 10am. All properties are cleaned after your departure, but we do ask clients to leave their accommodation as they found it.
