This beautiful restored mill dates back to 1500c. It is set in the Casentino valley which is a very pretty area southeast of Florence and approx. 13 miles northwest of Arezzo. The Casentino valley is one of the most notable districts in Tuscany for its ancient history and traditions. Even the smallest villages are well worth a visit because they all have a piece of history to tell. The National Park near Talla has 800km of routes and paths and is shrouded in nature and full of interesting things to see. The National Park also consists of picturesque mountain villages where you will find pieces of art and history in tiny mountain churches. Don't miss a visit to the famous monasteries of Camaldoli and La Verna.

The ancient villages of Talla and Pontenano are approx. 1½ miles from Molin Vecchio and where you will find a variety of shops and some restaurants. Talla is famous for its dairy where you can buy cheeses and ham from the Casentino area. Bibbiena is only 9 miles away and here you will find a good supermarket, a hospital, banks and many shops. The whole area is ideal for those who like long walks and trekking. Horse riding is available in the area and you can even keep your own horse in the grounds of the property if booked in advance.

Molin Vecchio sul Capraia is in a peaceful setting where all you can hear is the trickle of the water and singing of the birds. It is surrounded by 4 hectares of fenced woodland. The river Capraia runs below the property and there is a delightful waterfall behind the house. The owner will provide some basic fishing rods for guests who would like to go fishing in the river for trout and eels.

There is a spring only a short stroll away from the house where you may take delicious spring-water for your daily use. In the grounds the owner has provided table tennis and a multi-purpose area where you can play either tennis, volleyball or five-a-side football. There is a medium-sized swimming pool and the highlight in the garden is the delightful natural swimming pool (7m x 16m, depth 0.40m - 2m) just above the house, reached by some steps. The water for the pool is continuously supplied by clean fresh water from the river. There is a heated Jacuzzi in the garden, large enough to seat 7 - 8 people.

Molin Vecchio is a beautiful character stone building set on a sloping site, the house is built on several levels although there are only four floors in total. There are five levels altogether and several doors at different levels are leading out to the garden. On one side of the house there is a huge loggiato (covered terrace) with a long dining table and a stone-built barbecue.

A short stroll away from the main house there are two pretty stone cottages that can accommodate four more people if required, two in each. The cottages have a pretty double room, small kitchenette and a good bathroom with shower, basin, bidet wc.

Notes: The whole house is beautifully furnished in rustic style with many antique pieces. There are beamed ceilings throughout, several stone walls and beautiful floors - some are wooden, some made of stone and some terracotta.

We feel that this location would be great for those wanting to relax and unwind in a peaceful setting. The roads leading to Molin Vecchio are quite steep and windy. This is the ideal location if you wish to stay at home as there are many areas of the house, garden and woodland to explore. It will also be possible to visit the beautiful town of Arezzo and the wonderful towns and villages in the region with Florence and Siena a bit further a field. The welcoming owner will do her very best to make your holiday a great success.

Main entrance at the front of the house into the sitting room which has stone walls and the old grindstone in front of a large sofa. There are many interesting antique utensils along the wall and satellite TV. On one side of the sitting room there is a good fireplace and on the other side there is a picturesque white tiled woodstove. Next to the woodstove a beautiful low stone arch leads through to another sitting room.

From the covered terrace along the side of the house a second entrance leads into a large well equipped dining/kitchen with dining table and a wonderful fireplace in the middle of the room that can also be used as a barbeque. The kitchen has a woodstove, hob with four gas rings and one electric plate, electric oven, large fridge, separate freezer, two sinks, dishwasher, electric slicing machine and electric coffee maker. Views to the garden. A second door leads out of the kitchen onto another covered terrace at the back of the house with pizza oven. Access to garden area. From the kitchen there is also access to a useful pantry.

A few steps lead up from the kitchen to a small corridor from where you enter the sitting room (mentioned above) and a staircase leading up to the third level. On this level there is a lovely double room with a red iron bed on one side. On the other side two steps lead up into a smaller sitting room with fireplace and a sofa bed that can be converted into a bunk bed (more suitable for children). This room interconnects with another beautiful double room with an iron bed. From the sitting room a door leads out to an external staircase where you can walk down to the garden. There are also two good bathrooms, one with shower, basin, bidet, wc, the other with shower, two basins, bidet and wc.

The fourth level has a small open twin room and a good bathroom with bath, two basins, bidet and wc. A door leads from the landing to a small terrace on the rear of the house with steps up to the natural swimming pool.

A wooden staircase leads up to the fifth level into the tower which has a splendid double room with a painted iron bed and a beautiful white tiled woodstove. A door leads out from this bedroom onto the terrace and swimming pool. Washing machine in one of the bathrooms. Cot available on request. Dogs accepted on request. Tuscan meals on request (not on Saturdays) prepared by the owner (charged extra).

Additional Information At all properties towels are included with the linen. Please ask for the prices for Christmas if not stated. The Security deposit may be paid in the Sterling equivalent. Changeovers - bookings are from Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise stated (in low season changeover days can be more flexible - please ask). Arrivals are between 4pm and 7pm. Departure is by 10am. All properties are cleaned after your departure, but we do ask clients to leave their accommodation as they found it.
