We are delighted to offer this excellent holiday home which stands on the edge of a small cluster of mellow stone buildings down a quiet lane just about two and a half miles from the small Tuscan wine town of Montespertoli. This is one of our favourite small towns - very Italian and not marred by tourism although there is enough going on to be of interest.

Known as the 'Citta del Vino', Montespertoli offers many opportunities for sampling the local produce - most of the local vineyards offer wine tasting and it is even possible to buy your wines straight from the barrel - unlabelled. There is a notable wine festival in September and a good choice of restaurants in the area for those who wish to eat out.

With Florence easily accessible by road you will be well placed for exploring all the main sights of that beautiful city. Days out in Chianti will keep you well occupied - there are many small hilltop towns to visit including the magnificent San Gimignano. Other days will take you to Greve in Chianti, Gaiole and Castellina - all very picturesque and justifiably famous. Don't miss a day out in Siena with its dramatic 'Campo', surely one of the most beautiful city centres in the whole region.

The surroundings are beautiful and the area lends itself to walks along the country lanes to enjoy some of the prettiest scenery in this part of Tuscany. Montespertoli is 2.5 miles away for shopping and general supplies. There is a good supermarket and a weekly outdoor market.

Maid service can also be arranged on request for an extra charge. Laundry facilities on site.

The pool area is most attractive with shady gazebos and there is good outdoor furniture. Swimming pool is 12m x 6m.

 

IL MANDORLO

This restored detached barn has its own fenced garden area with a wide terrace to one side. A gateway leads down into the olive grove just behind the property to the swimming pool (12m x 6m).

The property is on two floors with two large arched entrance doors - one on the front and one on the side, which give access from the garden into the lovely dining/kitchen. This room has a fine beamed ceiling, Tuscan fireplace, gas hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer. Archway from kitchen down two steps into the spacious sitting/dining room, which has several sofas. Fine beamed ceiling. Satellite TV. Two further doors give access to the garden. Small downstairs cloakroom with wc and basin.

Stairs from the sitting room to the first floor bedrooms - two good doubles and a smaller twin which would be better for children. An archway form the landing accesses a further open-style sitting area with a double sofa bed, which has two bathrooms off, both with shower, basin, bidet and wc. Furnishings are comfortable and tasteful, ideal for a family holiday in beautiful surroundings. Terracotta floors downstairs and wooden floors upstairs. There are extensive views across the valley taking in the vineyards, olive groves and the hills beyond.

Outside are the garden and terrace, as described on the features page, with lots of room for eating out of doors. Pool as described. Good pizza oven and barbecue.

These prices are inclusive of linen, towels, power, welcome pack and final clean. Heating and firewood charged as used. Maid service available on request 10 Euros per hour. Cot available on request. Security deposit 150 Euros taken on arrival. Swimming pool open 25/4 - 26/9 (subject to change depending on weather).

 

Additional Information At all properties towels are included with the linen. Please ask for the prices for Christmas if not stated. The Security deposit may be paid in the Sterling equivalent. Changeovers - bookings are from Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise stated (in low season changeover days can be more flexible - please ask). Arrivals are between 4pm and 7pm. Departure is by 10am. All properties are cleaned after your departure, but we do ask clients to leave their accommodation as they found it.
