Property Location

Fattoria Melai lies in a rural setting down a quiet country lane just about a kilometre from the little village of Orentano and only twenty kilometres south of the beautiful walled town of Lucca - one of the most famous places in Tuscany. This is an excellent opportunity to stay in a well-placed location whilst being away from busy tourist centres and yet all the main places in the region are easily accessible by road or train. Florence is less than an hour's drive away and Viareggio on the coast is only fifty kilometres to the west.

The two properties are formed from a large portion of the owners' own farmhouse and have been prepared for letting with every thought for your holiday comfort. The farmhouse dates back to the 1700s and is situated in the 'Parco Naturale delle Cerbaie'. The large gardens are ideal for relaxing and the 'designer pool' will surely be the focus of many happy holiday memories.

Olive oil and wine can be purchased from the owners who will make you very welcome. Fruit and vegetables can also be delivered to the property during your stay.

Orentano is noted for its famous pizzas and pastries and plays host to a delightful pizza festival during the season.

There are ten acres of grass and woodland behind the property with footpaths where you can walk. Both properties share the large garden area which has room for children to play - a garden swing and slide are available but may only be used at the client's own risk. Beautiful swimming pool of irregular shape with bridges (16m x 14m) with shallow area for children and hydro massage. Depth 80cm - 1.5m. Barbecue. Garden table and chairs for eating out of doors. Unused Chapel dating back to 1700. Ample parking.

Note: We feel that these properties will suit families or several couples wishing to stay together in a quiet location. The location is not 'touristy' and offers a good opportunity to sample the Italian way of life, however there are plenty of places for eating out in the area around and good shopping to be had in Lucca.

The two properties available at Fattoria Melai are Cantina and Cascina.

CANTINA
Property Ref. 10 - Sleeps 10

Situated at the end of the building Cantina is built on two floors with its entrance from the garden into the spacious sitting room. Satellite TV. Large well equipped dining/kitchen with fridge/freezer, gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine. Useful ground floor twin bedded room and shower room - basin, bidet and wc. Stairs to the first floor lead to the three further spacious bedrooms - there are two doubles and one quad with four single beds, all en-suite with shower, basin and wc.

The house has terracotta floors and attractive beamed ceilings with some vaulted ceilings on the ground floor. A mobile phone can be made available on request - charged extra. Central heating.

CASCINA

Cascina has its own entrance from the garden into a beautiful open-plan fitted kitchen (fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric cooker, dishwasher). Sitting/dining area. TV with satellite. There is a door to the garden. Also on the ground floor with separate entrance from the garden is a twin bedroom with shower unit, en-suite wc, basin and bidet and washing machine.

Upstairs there are two further bedrooms, one twin en-suite and one triple room (three single beds) with bathroom next door. The property has central heating.
