This is a lovely, detached cottage in stone, which is part of a small farm estate producing olive oil, wine and sunflowers. It has its own pretty grassy garden area where you can eat out of doors, and in the grounds there are several other large garden areas where you can relax either in the sun or under a shady tree. The tiny River Tora runs just below the property.
This is an attractive location - somewhat off the main tourist routes yet well placed for visits throughout the area. It is easy to get to the coast and there are good beaches at Rosignano and further south where you can enjoy the balmy waters of the Mediterranean.
Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower is a must - it is now possible once again to climb the tower but you must arrive early to get a timed ticket as numbers are strictly limited. Florence and Lucca are a little more distant - worth the drive or easily accessed by train. More locally there are health treatments available in Casciana Terme - a lovely little spa resort with an inviting public swimming pool and a number of attractive restaurants.
Next door to the property is the main house where the owners live. They are a charming couple who will do everything to make your stay memorable. You can purchase wine and olive oil direct from the farm.
The nearest village is Lorenzana (2 miles approximately) where you will find a few shops, a bank and a pharmacy. Main shopping can be found at Collesalvetti and there is horse riding and tennis available in the area. One of our favourite restaurants is called 'La Gattaiola' at Fauglia - well worth a visit to experience delicious Tuscan fare, an entertaining owner and characterful surroundings.
Notes: We love and know this area well and feel that this property will make a good, moderately priced location in which to enjoy a real experience of Tuscany.
