Please Note: When Casa Irene is let on a weekly self-catering basis, the whole house will be available just for you. The rest of the year Casa Irene operates as a Bed and Breakfast with three beautiful rooms available to book. Each sleeps two (minimum of 2 nights).

This beautiful and unique detached property is reached via a 0.8 mile unmetalled road (a little bumpy). It is a recently restored old farmhouse finished to a high standard. Sitting on the hills between the villages of Nibbiana and Gabbro approx. 4.5 miles above the coast, south of Livorno and the little harbour of Chioma, this is a special property and a peaceful and tranquil oasis to relax and get away from it all.

From the windows and the garden there are lovely views to the valley of the river Chioma and the surrounding woodland. In front of the house is a large wooden terrace to enjoy meals. Below the terrace in the garden are sun beds, umbrellas and a garden shower to cool down. A pizza oven and a barbecue complete the picture.

In the grounds there is a fenced vegetable garden and in season the owner and gardener will be happy to offer you fresh produce.

Things to do: The famous seaside resorts of Quercianella and Castiglioncello are easy to reach and the sandy beaches of Vada are a bit further south. If you enjoy lazing on the beaches the welcoming owner will be happy to book your umbrella and sun beds at the beach at Chioma or Vada. There are good sporting opportunities nearby. Windsurfing nearby, mountain bikes can be hired, tennis courts in the area, guided horse riding, canoeing and diving can be arranged. Rubber dinghy excursions can be organised on request. There are many interesting hilltop villages to visit and all the major sights of central Tuscany are within easy traveling distance as the motorway is nearby.

Shopping: In Nibbiana (3 miles) and in Gabbro (4 miles) are a selection of shopping facilities including a small supermarket. In Rosignano Solvay (9.5 miles) and in Livorno (12.5 miles) there is a large supermarket, shopping centers and all sorts of shops.

Main entrance at the side of the house into a small colourful hall painted a warm red with two armchairs. A glass door opens into a fantastic professional kitchen with beautiful red tiled floor superbly equipped with 4 gas rings, wide electric oven, gas barbecue, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, 2 electric coffee makers and electric kettle. A door leads from the kitchen out into the garden.

Seven steps lead from the hall into a delightful sitting room with an open fireplace, two comfortable sofas, satellite TV, CD player, radio and a door out to the terrace. An arch leads from the sitting room into the dining room with round antique dining table, a wood fired stove and a door leading out to the terrace. There is a small service bathroom with basin, wc and washing machine. Beautiful terracotta floors throughout the ground floor (except the red tiles kitchen floor) and wonderful wooden beamed ceilings.

From the hall a wide stone staircase, illuminated by spot lights built into the wall, leads up to three comfortable and tastefully furnished double bedrooms. Each bedroom is painted a different colour. The master bedroom is decorated in white. There is a comfortable armchair that can be used as an extra bed if required. The en-suite bathroom has bath with shower over, basin, bidet, wc. The second bedroom is painted in a soft violet and has en-suite bathroom with shower, basin, bidet, wc.

The third smaller bedroom is green and furnished with a French style double bed (if requested in advance the bed can be replaced with two single beds). This bedroom has its private bathroom with shower, basin, wc, bidet.

All the bedrooms have wooden floors and beamed ceilings.

The whole property is tastefully and comfortably furnished in a mix of modern and rustic style with much attention to detail, many personal touches and pretty antique pieces of furniture. The walls are decorated with pictures and all the fittings are of superb quality. The lighting and radio is controlled from a digital panel on the ground floor. There is central heating throughout the property and air conditioning in the bedrooms. Hair dryer provided.
